EV Charger Installation

EV Charger Installation by Blue Sky Electrical in North Bay

Owning an electric vehicle comes with many benefits, but having to rely on public charging stations usually isn’t on the list. If you’re the new owner of an electric vehicle, are tired of relying on EV charging stations outside of your home, or want to increase your home’s property value, consider installing an EV charger outside your house or in the garage.

An EV home charging station provides convenience and quick charging times when you upgrade to a Level 2 240V EV charger. Our electricians can help you find the electric car charger that suits your needs, as well as electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). We provide all the installation and electrical services you need to get your EV charging station up and running.

Types of EV Chargers

Two types of home charging stations are available:

Level 1 EV Charger

When you purchase an electric car, you receive a charging cord that you can plug into any standard 120 volt outlet, as long as it has a three-pronged socket and designated circuit. This ensures the circuit is only used to charge the electric car and nothing else.
Charging through a 120V receptacle is the slower option, as it can take up to 24 hours to charge your electric vehicle. You can typically drive 8 kilometers after one hour of charge. Also note that if there is no dedicated outlet available, we can install the appropriate circuit and socket for your charging station.

Level 2 EV Charger

Level 2 is the faster EV charging option, and the most popular choice for convenience reasons. This level is sold separately from the electric car and requires a 240 volt outlet. With a Level 2 home charging station, you can charge your electric car three to seven times faster and drive up to 30 kilometers on an hour of charge.
If you do most of your charging at home (or would like to), drive long distances, or don’t have time to charge your car on a standard Level 1, the Level 2 EV charger station is an ideal solution. Call us today, and we’ll have an expert electrician install a new home EV charger so you can get back on the road.
